The Mountaineers (11-0, 7-0 GARC) won both disciplines, outshooting the Wildcats in smallbore, 2337-2312, and air rifle, 2376-2362.
“We are satisfied with today’s performance, but there are still a lot of things that we have to continue to work on,” coach Jon Hammond said. “It was a really good learning experience for all of us, and today’s match really highlighted a lot of areas that we need to continue to work on for the remaining matches this season.”
A Mountaineer took both discipline wins, as senior Garrett Spurgeon shot 587 (193 kneeling, 199 prone, 195 standing) smallbore and freshman Ginny Thrasher shot 599 (100, 99, 100, 100, 100, 100) air rifle to match her career-high total.
