MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The No. 1-ranked West Virginia women’s soccer team didn’t let Thursday’s double-overtime loss to Virginia linger for long.

The Mountaineers dispatched Duquesne 3-0 on Sunday behind Hannah Abraham’s early goal and two insurance scores by Carla Portillo and Bianca St. Georges.

Playing in front of 1,123 fans at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, West Virginia (2-1) allowed only three shots and one corner kick by the Dukes (1-2). Rylee Foster made one save for her second shutout of the season.

“We talked about this being the most important game we were going to face after a loss, and I thought the girls did a great job coming out and responding,” Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said.
