West Virginia’s leading tackler in each of their first two games was not on the Mountaineer roster through most of the offseason. Tony Fields II has made an immediate impact on the WVU defense after transferring into the program from Arizona in August. In WVU’s season-opening win over Eastern Kentucky, Fields led the team with 10 tackles. He also had nine tackles this past week against Oklahoma State.

Three days after the Mountaineers’ 27-13 loss at Oklahoma State, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown balanced the obvious disappointment of a lost opportunity with the need to move on to face a Baylor team that dominated Kansas 47-14 in their opener.
