Negotiations Between West Virginia University & Dana Holgorsen For New Contract Extension Have Ended

This certainly makes the coming season's results all the more interesting and important for the program going forward.

According to a report in the Charleston Gazette-Mail, WVU and Dana Holgorsen are no longer discussing a contract extension.

This, on the heels of cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell bolting for Virginia Tech due to "job security" issues, makes the situation around the football program in Morgantown more tenuous, especially for the assistants.

The big question moving forward is how this impacts recruiting future classes. Coaches generally have at least 3-4 years under contract going forward for recruiting reasons as most kids don't want to sign for one coach not knowing if he'll be around for his entire collegiate career.
