MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia edged out Syracuse for a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Oyenmwen Uzebu on Sunday.

Minutes later, WVU added another offensive line pledge from three-star Briason Mays of Bolivar, Tenn.

Uzebu, the 6-foot-6, 290-pound lineman from Alpharetta, Ga., told Rivals that the tough-love approach of Mountaineers offensive line coach Joe Wickline played a primary role in a tough decision.

“Coach Wick really is the guy for me,” Uzebu said. “He is the guy to help me develop into a monster and I love his passion for the game.”

Previously committed to Minnesota for a month this spring, Uzebo is considered a raw prospect with ample upside.
