West Virginia used 16 points from guard Tarik Phillip to knock off Bucknell 86-80 yesterday. The Mountaineers led by as many as 15 points in the first half before Bucknell rallied to make it a three-point game in the second half.
Phillip put the game on ice by making six consecutive free throws inside of a minute to play to boost the Mountaineers’ record to 27-8.
Notre Dame, meanwhile, held on to defeat Princeton, 60-58, when Princeton’s Devin Cannady missed an open 3-pointer on its final possession.
Forward Bonzie Colson led the Irish with 18 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Matt Farrell contributed 16 points.
