Mountaineers Edged in Rainy Doubleheader Finale

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team lost the second game of a doubleheader to No. 4 Texas Tech, 4-3 on a rainy Saturday night at Monongalia County Ballpark.

The Mountaineers (26-19, 10-10 Big 12) took an early 3-1 lead, but after a rain delay at the end of the fourth inning that lasted more than an hour, the Red Raiders (39-12, 13-7 Big 12) scored in the fifth, eighth and ninth innings to come back and win it.

“We were winning when it started raining and losing at the end, so that was a big difference,” WVU coach Randy Mazey said.
