SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – No. 6/7 Dylan Cottrell and Devin Brown each scored bonus-point victories as the West Virginia University wrestling team fell to Cal Poly, 19-18, on Tuesday at Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo.
Coaching legend Joe Seay joined WVU coach Sammie Henson and his staff on the bench as an honorary coach. Seay, the U.S. Olympic Team coach at the 1996 games, led CSU Bakersfield and Oklahoma State to a combined nine national titles and held several coaching positions with U.S.A. Wrestling.
After missing the previous four events with an injury, Cottrell made his return to the mat at 165 and picked up a 19-4 tech.
