Mountaineers Advance After Pummeling Maryland 9-1

After a scoreless first inning, the Mountaineers bats heated up with the temperature. Third basemen Cole Austin started the 2nd inning with a double. He advanced to third on a ground out before scoring on Kyle Davis’ homerun. Jimmy Galuski added another run with his homerun to make it 3-0. The Mountaineers wouldn’t need any more runs but added another in the 3rd inning, another in the 4th, and two in the 5th inning.

Mountatineer pitcher Alex Manoah only lasted 3.1 innings before giving way to BJ Myers who pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless relief. Myers only allowed 4 hits and one walk over his relief appearance, giving the Mountaineers bullpen a shot in the arm.
