The West Virginia Mountaineers will ride a 3-0 start into Big 12 conference play next Saturday against the Kansas State Wildcats after a narrow win over the BYU Cougars at FedExField in Landover, Maryland.
The Mountaineers got off to a hot start when Skyler Howard went 8-8 on a 79-yard drive that saw Rushel Shell score his first touchdown of the evening to put West Virginia ahead early. The Cougars answered with a touchdown drive of their own, but a Skyler Howard interception on West Virginia’s second drive of the game let the Cougars take a 10-7 lead to start the second quarter.
