Late scores payoff for No. 4 West Virginia against Purdue

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Purdue kept the match scoreless for 66 minutes before back-to-back goals from Heather Kaleiohi and Michaela Abam carried No. 4 West Virginia to a 2-0 win Thursday night, extending its home unbeaten streak to 28.

The Mountaineers (4-0-1) dominated action—outshooting the Boilermakers 29-1—though that wasn’t reflected until the breakthrough scores in the 65th and 69th minute.

“We’re scoring a little bit later than we’d like, but as long as we’re finding the back of the net and we’re playing good soccer, that’s all I can ask for at this point of the season,” Mountaineers coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said.
