KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A goal and several more chances in the final 10 minutes was not enough as the West Virginia University men’s soccer team lost 2-1 at Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
On a windy afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex, the Mountaineers (8-6-1, 1-3-0 Mid-American Conference) trailed 2-0 after 16 minutes of play before scoring on a penalty kick in the 80th minute after a red card was shown to WMU keeper Drew Shepherd. However, down a man for the final 10 minutes and facing a strong offensive push, the Broncos (9-4-4, 1-0-3 MAC) prevented the equalizing score.
