Jarret Doege named WVU’s starting quarterback

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After starting the final three games of the 2019 season, Jarret Doege will remain the starting quarterback for WVU as they enter the new season.

WVU head coach Neal Brown made the announcement on Thursday, nine days prior to his squad opening up the 2020 season against Eastern Kentucky at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Doege, a redshirt junior, gets the nod ahead of redshirt senior Austin Kendall. Kendall started the first nine games last season after transferring in from Oklahoma. He passed for 1,989 yards with 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Kendall also rushed for 91 yards and a score.
