Jackson Wolf and the 8-seed West Virginia Mountaineers knocked off top seed (and #2 ranked) Texas Longhorns 5-1 in the first round of the double elimination tournament. West Virginia will play the winner of the Bedlam game (Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State) tomorrow at 7:30 PM.
West Virginia got on the board early when Hudson Byorick sent a solo homerun over the left field wall to put WVU up 1-0 in the 2nd inning.
In the fifth inning Tyler Doanes hit a sacrifice fly to bring in another run, and Texas threw a wild pitch and suddenly West Virginia was in the driver’s seat 3-0.
