Injuries hamper WVU basketball at Texas

Already without starter Daxter Miles, the Mountaineers lost leading scorer Jaysean Paige to an ankle injury in the first half of the 85-78 loss to the Longhorns.

“We got tired and gave up penetration, they suck you in to help and then they pitch it and they get step-in shots,” said West Virginia coach Bob Huggins.

WVU just couldn’t really match up with Texas, even after starting hot. The Mountaineers jumped out to a 12-4 lead within the first few minutes of the first half. The Longhorns then found their shooting stroke and were able to bury the Mountaineers, despite their best effort in the game’s final four minutes.
