Huggins: Suspended Ahmad will be challenged to stay sharp

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With Esa Ahmad suspended until mid-January, West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said the junior forward faces a challenge to keep his game and conditioning sharp.

“To this point he’s been really good. Now it’s going to be hard for him to come in practice that hard everyday knowing that you don’t have a game on Saturday,” Huggins said.

“I think he understands what’s at stake for him. I think he understands how hard he’s going to have to push himself.”

Ahmad faces a half-season suspension for what the university termed failing to meet NCAA eligibility requirements.
