Home again, No. 17 WVU encounters sluggish Cowboys

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Returning for their first home game in 19 days, the No. 17 West Virginia Mountaineers contend they’re a better team than when they left.

Tied with Kansas after one week of Big 12 action, West Virginia (13-1, 2-0) swept a three-game road swing over the New Year’s break. The trip featured a gritty, double-overtime win at Kansas State, several stellar bench performances and a movie outing to see ”Daddy’s Home.”

“It helped the coaches get an idea of where we’re at and where the team is,” said Devin Williams said Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours before WVU hosts Oklahoma State (9-5, 1-1).
