MANHATTAN, Kan. — Dana Holgorsen glimpsed the fourth-quarter clock winding inside the final minute, shaking his head at the inevitable prospect of a four-year losing streak to Kansas State.
West Virginia held a talent edge and was on its way to winning the yardage battle 447-304. Kansas State was on its way to winning the game.
“This is what Kansas State does,” Holgorsen said. “That is how they win games.”
With a fourth-string quarterback who typically played receiver and kick returner WVU angled to stop and couldn’t.
“Hats off to Coach (Bill) Snyder because of what all he does and how much I respect him,” said Holgorsen, reserving a hefty compliment for Snyder’s son, who coordinates the Wildcats special teams.
