MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Aiming to make its mock game week authentic as possible, West Virginia’s football team stayed at an off-campus hotel Friday night and followed that up Saturday with a Man Trip dry run into the empty Milan Puskar Stadium.
In some ways the mock scrimmage was as beneficial to the coaches as it was the players, especially with Jake Spavital now taking over the play-calling. Head coach Dana Holgorsen’s hands-off approach to the offense allows him to be more hands-on in other areas.
Holgorsen said he was “way more in tune with the transitional stuff, the game management stuff, getting guys on and and off the field and directing the sideline the way it’s supposed to be done.
