HONOLULU – Catcher Ray Guerrini hit two home runs and the bullpen threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings as West Virginia beat Hawaii 9-2 late Sunday, splitting their four-game series.
The Mountaineer (7-3) racked up 13 hits while concluding an 11-day road trip that began with a sweep of UNLV.
“We had double-digit hits in the last three games here, and it feels like we’re at the tip of the iceberg of what this team is capable of,” West Virginia coach Randy Mazey said. “We went 5-2 on a really long roadtrip, so we have to feel good about the results coming home.
