Benton joins the sack exchange

Last week represented Al-Rasheed Benton’s 17th start and his 42nd game overall at West Virginia. He had appeared on more than 1,100 defensive snaps and made 127 tackles, but until No. 128 he had never registered a sack.

“Now everybody in the building has been joking with me that I finally got one,” he said.

As a Mike linebacker, the fifth-year senior simply doesn’t blitz that often, though Benton had come close to ending his sack famine several times.
