MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia redshirt freshman safety Collin Smith has left the program.
The 6-foot, 200-pounder was a Rivals two-star recruit in 2017 after earning all-state honors as a quarterback/defensive back at Ligonier Valley (Pa.) High School. He chose WVU over offers from Michigan, Louisville, Boston College, UConn and Army.
Smith did not see action last season and the prospect for playing time this fall seemed slight behind returning starters Dravon Askew-Henry, Toyous Avery and Kenny Robinson and junior letterman JoVanni Stewart.
