LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Darius Hill drove in four runs, highlighted by a ninth-inning homer, and West Virginia recovered from wasting a big early lead to beat UNLV 9-6 on Friday night.
The Mountaineers (3-1) opened an 11-day road trip by getting big contributions from freshmen, who knocked in seven runs.
Jimmy Galusky’s go-ahead single broke a 6-all tie in the ninth before Hill drilled his first college homer to right field off Blaze Bohall (1-1). It marked only the second home run allowed by the Rebels reliever in 74 career innings.
Conner Dotson (1-0), who stopped the bleeding in UNLV’s eighth-inning comeback, pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to seal the win.
