Former All-Big 12 kicker Josh Lambert no longer with WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia senior Josh Lambert, among the nation’s top kickers two seasons ago, is no longer with the team, coach Dana Holgorsen confirmed Tuesday.

The Daily Athenaeum first reported the story. Program sources told MetroNews last week that Lambert was still a part of the program.

Holgorsen offered no context on whether Lambert was dismissed or left of his own accord. The kicker had been suspended for the first three games this season, reportedly for using a banned substance.

“He has his degree and we wish him well,” Holgorsen said.

Lambert ends his career with 340 points, 44 shy of Pat McAfee’s school scoring record.
