In 2015, Will Grier started the first six games for the Florida Gators, producing over 1200 yards in the air and throwing 10 touchdowns against only 3 interceptions. After testing positive for performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), which Grier claims is the result of an over-the-counter supplement, Grier was suspended for the remaining six games of the 2015 season and the first of the 2016 season. Grier filed an appeal but was denied by the NCAA.
After being denied by the NCAA, Grier applied for a transfer from the University of Florida and will now be required to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will miss the first six games of the 2017 season.
