Fairmont State coach Joe Mazzulla, ex-WVU standout, hired by Celtics

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — After two seasons as head coach of the Fairmont State men’s basketball program, Joe Mazzulla is set to become an assistant with the Boston Celtics.

The news was first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Mazzulla did not return a message for comment from MetroNews/The Dominion Post.

Mazzulla is a former West Virginia standout who was a part of the 2010 Final Four team. In five seasons at the school — he received a medical redshirt after the start of his junior season because of a shoulder injury — Mazzulla scored 700 points and dished out 370 assists.
