MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jared Barber hadn’t scored a touchdown in a football game since he was in eighth grade when, as a running back, he found the end zone against North Davie Middle School in his native North Carolina.
But on the same field where his ACL was torn two years ago — against the same opponent, no less — this West Virginia senior linebacker who missed all of the 2014 season saw the ball on the ground and 42 yards of open turf ahead of him. He took care of the rest, scooping up the ball and running the rest of the way to put his team up, 7-3, in the first quarter.
