Defensive end removed from WVU roster after drug arrest

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — WVU defensive lineman Larry Jefferson Jr. was arrested and charged with drug possession and was subsequently thrown off the team.

The 23-year old Jefferson was arrested Tuesday morning in Morgantown carrying small amounts of marijuana and cocaine according to his criminal complaint. He was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court and bond was set at $2,500. Jefferson was stopped on Clay Street in Morgantown as officiers were investigating a brandishing incident at South University Plaza in Morgantown.

Jefferson’s name and player page were taken down from WVU’s online team page Wednesday. Jefferson was suspended from spring drills for violation of team rules although he was expected to contribute to the Mountaineers as a pass rush specialist this season.
