As the Mountaineers were preparing to leave the Big East for the Big 12, they faced rival Pitt for one last go-around in the Backyard Brawl. It was Dana Holgorsen’s first year at the helm of the Mountaineers and first and only season leading Pitt.
WVU earned a come-from-behind, 21-20 victory in that game against the Panthers in the final Backyard Brawl to be played for quite some time.
