MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Kyzir White became the first West Virginia player selected in the 2018 NFL draft, going to the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round Saturday.
Chargers first-rounder choice Derwin James announced the pick from outside the construction site of the team’s future stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
A hybrid safety/linebacker, White was the 19th pick of the fourth round and No. 119 overall, representing the first time since 2011 that the Mountaineers did not have a player drafted in the top three rounds.
“I love Kyzir White. He looks like a grown man out there,” said Lance Zierlein of the NFL Network.
