Campus Connection: Weekend Notebook

The experience of watching West Virginia University football practices for more than 25 years has taught me this - if the offense is moving the ball at will on the defense during preseason camp then that usually means things are not going to turn out well during the regular season.

Why is that?

Well, the defense knows exactly what the offense is doing every day in practice, and if the defense is having trouble stopping plays they know are coming their way that makes stopping what they don’t know coming at them virtually impossible.

Senior center Tyler Orlosky explains, “It’s part of the deal, I guess,” he shrugged.
