MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the fourth time this season, West Virginia University volleyball’s Payton Caffrey has garnered league honors as she was announced as the Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Monday for matches played Oct. 5-8.
The freshman outside hitter led the Mountaineers in a pair of outings against Oklahoma, averaging 4.29 kills per set to rank fourth among all Big 12 players for the week. Caffrey was fifth in points at 4.64 per set.
After just missing a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs on Friday, Caffrey registered No. 9 of the season with a team-high 18 kills and 12 digs in a 3-1 loss to the Sooners on Saturday.
