In the first half, a back and forth affair turned in favor for the Iowa State Cyclones as Monte Morris took over late. Sitting for seven of the first twenty minutes, Morris was fresh towards the end of the first half and finished with 11 points at halftime.
The first half was mostly an even affair, with the game tied 18-18 halfway through the first half. A 10-0 run by Iowa State gave the Cyclones a lead that they would work throughout the first half and into the second.
The second half saw Iowa State come out hot, especially, Deonte Burton.
