KANSAS CITY, Mo. — West Virginia women’s soccer dominated the Big 12 postseason awards ledger with repeat performances. Kadeisha Buchanan won her fourth straight league Defensive Player of the Year trophy while Nikki Izzo-Brown earned Coach of the Year a fifth consecutive time.
Michaela Abam shared top offensive honors with Oklahoma State’s Courtney Dike after the Mountaineers (16-1-1, 8-0) cruised to their fifth straight Big 12 title and climbed to No. 1 in the national polls for the first time. West Virginia rides a nine-match win streak into this week’s conference tournament.
All awards were selected by the conference coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
