Big 12 grants some changes to 2016 football schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — We knew the opponents but the sequence was newsworthy when the Big 12 announced its 2016 football schedule Tuesday.

Most notably, the Baylor game arrives at the end of the year, perhaps making weather a factor—and perhaps raising the prospect of a game impacting the Big 12 championship or the College Football Playoff.

The Mountaineers scheduled a bye before BYU and the conference slotted another three weeks later before the Texas Tech game. Two byes before the fifth game sounds unbalanced, but that’s the draw.

The Oklahoma game, after serving as the Big 12 opener for two seasons, shifts back to Nov.
