CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Avon Cobourne, the all-time leading rusher in West Virginia University football history, has swiftly found himself in the starting lineup in his new role at the Charleston Family YMCA.
Cobourne started his new role just a couple of weeks ago as the Y’s marketing and membership director. He thought he would be able to spend that time learning the ins and outs of the job.
Instead, some other departures on staff and a big upcoming event — Healthy Kids Day — has required a lot of swift on-the-job learning.
“This was supposed to be my month I was supposed to learn everything and then I would be forced into it, but we had an event come up this weekend.
