Another Mountaineer has entered the transfer portal

According to 247Sports’ Chris Anderson, West Virginia redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Briason Mays has entered his name into the transfer portal.

The Bolivar, Tennessee native came to Morgantown as part of the 2018 recruiting class alongside his friend and high school teammate, former Mountaineer signal caller Trey Lowe.

After redshirting in 2018, Mays started seven games for the Mountaineers — mostly at center — in 2019. During the 2020 season, Mays moved outside to tackle, where he saw action in eight games, starting in four.

Mays becomes the 9th scholarship player to announce his intention to transfer since West Virginia’s season ended with the Liberty Bowl win over the Army Black Knights, joining the likes of running back Alec Sinkfield, quarterback Austin Kendall and wide receiver Ali Jennings.
