Wolves become latest Premier League club to ban players signing autographs and taking selfies with fans amid the outbreak of the coronavirus

Wolves have banned players from signing autographs and taking selfies for supporters in an attempt to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The Molineux club have also asked players and staff ‘to avoid any unnecessary meetings, lunches or other public engagements’, as well as encouraging them to avoid shaking hands – as other Premier League clubs have done, including West Ham and Newcastle.

Club officials have ensured hand sanitisers are distributed around Molineux as well as the club’s training ground at Compton, just outside the city centre.

A Wolves spokesman said: ‘Whilst we acknowledge that this will be disappointing for some supporters, we stress that this a temporary measure to protect the ongoing wellbeing of the Wolves squad and is a decision which has not been taken lightly.
