West Ham have had a second bid of around £36m rejected by Ajax for midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
The Hammers saw their initial approach for the Ghanaian winger turned down by the Dutch club last week.
West Ham's technical director Tim Steidten had flown to Amsterdam last Thursday for talks with Ajax officials.
A further bid of around £36m has since been submitted by Premier League club, but the offer has been rebuffed.
Kudus was linked with a move to Brighton this summer, but a deal failed to materialise.
