West Ham United suffered their first defeat of pre-season on Friday night as Johannes Eggestein struck for Werder Bremen.
Eggestein's right-footed strike left goalkeeper Adrian helpless after 11 minutes in the Betway Cup fixture in Lohne.
Captain Mark Noble went off injured in the first half and was replaced by Pedro Obiang.
The Hammers take on Altona 93 in Hamburg on Tuesday before rounding off pre-season in Iceland next Friday against Manchester City.
