THE NOTEBOOK: Danny Ings fails to find the net against his old club as Hammers drop points at home...while John McGinn still waits for his first Aston Villa goal after going FORTY-FIVE games without a goal

West Ham managed to climb out of the Premier League bottom three, but only on goal difference, after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for the hosts, finding the net for the fourth away game in a row with a header just after the quarter hour mark.

The Hammers found a way back into the game ten minutes later, when Lucas Paqueta was bundled over in the box by Leon Bailey and the referee awarded a penalty.

Said Benrahma dispatched the spot-kick, but David Moyes failed to find a winner and were greeted by a chorus of boos at the final whistle.
