QPR striker Charlie Austin urges Covid survivors to donate their blood plasma to the NHS after the centre forward was 'wiped out' by the virus and says he is lucky to be still be playing football following the illness

QPR striker Charlie Austin has told how he is lucky to still be playing professional football after he was 'wiped out' by Covid, which he caught at the Cheltenham Festival.

Now the centre forward, who is on loan from Premier League West Bromwich Albion, is spearheading a campaign, alongside Wolves' skipper Conor Coady, to encourage former Covid patients like him to donate their blood plasma.

Plasma from those who’ve had coronavirus contains antibodies that could help others fight the virus and it is being collected by NHS Blood and Transplant to support research into new treatments.
