West Brom are signing former Sheffield United defender Kean Bryan.
The 24-year-old former Manchester City academy player is a free agent after his contract ran out at Bramall Lane this summer.
He underwent a medical at Albion on Monday and will provide competition for Valerien Ismael's defence as well as cover in midfield.
Albion have been rocked by injuries at centre back with Matt Clarke and Dara O'Shea both on the treatment table.
Clarke injured his hamstring in the win at Blackburn and is expected to be out for another four weeks.
