Former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes emerges as candidate for the vacant Cardiff City job as the Bluebirds look to fill the void left by Mick McCarthy who was sacked after eight straight defeats

Derek McInnes has emerged as a candidate for the vacant manager’s job at Cardiff City.

The ambitious 50-year old coach earned plaudits for his work at Aberdeen where he won the Scottish League Cup but has been eager for another crack at management in England.

He had a previous spell at Bristol City where he guided them from relegation and has been considered by the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Barnsley.
