'For me it's spoiled the game': Graeme Souness says Matheus Pereira's red card for kicking out was soft as West Brom become the first team to have an own goal and red card in a half since 2014 against Crystal Palace

Graeme Souness has criticised the referee's decision to send off West Brom's Matheus Pereira against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder was given his marching orders for kicking out at Patrick van Aanholt with the score 1-1 after 34 minutes.

Referee Paul Tierney went over to the monitor on the recommendation of VAR assistant Michael Oliver before sending the 24-year-old off to the dismay of manager Slaven Bilic.

At half-time, Sky Sports pundit Souness said the decision had ruined the game.

He said: 'I think van Aanholt bundles into him.
