Everton pay tribute to club legend Jimmy Husband after he passed away aged 76 with star having been part of the Toffees' title winning team in 1969-70

Everton have paid tribute to Jimmy Husband after the club legend passed away aged 76.

As reported by the club's official website, Husband died on Saturday following a short illness.

Born in Newcastle, Husband played for England at youth level and signed for Everton in 1964.

Capable of playing as a winger or a forward, he was part of the Everton side that won the league title in the 1969-70 season, scoring six goals. In total he scored 55 goals in 199 games for Everton and won the 1970 Charity Shield.

He won the FA Youth Cup in 1965 and was involved as Everton reached the final of the FA Cup in 1968, when the Toffees lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion, with Husband missing an inviting opportunity to score.
