Everton midfielder James McCarthy stretchered off with suspected broken leg after Salomon Rondon challenge

Everton midfielder James McCarthy appears to have suffered a serious leg break during Saturday afternoon's clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The Ireland international was stretchered off the pitch and it is understood he was rushed straight to hospital following an ill-timed challenge from Baggies striker Salomon Rondon.

Rondon accidentally struck McCarthy's leg and seemed traumatised by the incident,

While medical staff rushed on to treat the Toffees midfielder, Rondon was in tears and had to be consoled by West Brom staff.

Seamus Coleman, who suffered a similar injury, was pictured leaving his seat at Goodison Park to console his team-mate.
