Newcastle United were relegated last season because they had too many individuals who could not play as a team.
That is the view of former Toon defender Daryl Janmaat, who left St James' Park in August to stay in the Premier League with Watford.
The Dutch international, a key player in Watford's 3-1 weekend win over Manchester United, was asked what went wrong with his former club last season.
"It just didn't happen for us, and it's hard sometimes to say why," he told The Hornet.
"We had some good players, but we weren't really a team, and that's much more important than having talented players.
