Wayne Rooney 'could miss the next four games for Derby County and will not be able to train with rest of squad' as he self isolates for 14 days after friend visited his home and later tested positive for coronavirus

Wayne Rooney will have to isolate for 14 days after coming into contact with a Covid infected friend who visited his home and then later tested positive.

Rooney, the Derby County player-coach has undergone a coronavirus test himself with the result expected on Monday.

But whatever the outcome he has been ordered by his club that he will have to remain at home for 14 days, as per rules laid down by the English Football League (EFL).

Rooney has found himself at the centre of a coronavirus crisis after his friend, Josh Bardsley, who had been contacted by Test and Trace and later tested positive for Covid-19, visited him on Thursday to give him a watch.
