Watford are close to signing Swedish Under-21 international keeper Pontus Dahlberg from IFK Gothenburg, for a fee believed to be around £3.5m.
Dahlberg — who, at 19, has become the club's first-choice shot stopper — has a contract at the club which expires in December 2020.
Watford appointed Spaniard Javi Gracia as manager on Sunday, hours after sacking Marco Silva.
Gracia, 47, signed an 18-month contract with Watford who lie 10th in the standings and one of his first jobs will be to bolster the squad in what little time they have left in the window.
